chains of history

strange joinings from the past

a spark of dark flashes in the gashes
between the light, the cold dark night
seething foamy nothing filled with something
marbles sinking deep in the space time sheet
destiny unwinding from binding to unbinding
a curlicue burst at the very first
the starry seers measured in years
i want to see where i will be
when time lags and energy flags
in the end the laws don't bend
we will finally find
silence on the line
messyah: (Default)
the curtain clouds roll back
a glancing ray shines through misty veils
the heavens open
silence on the line
frozen in time
a single beat
and another drifting moment
of
silence on the line

another beat, and another
a steady rhythm starts
with a hitching gasp
a first ragged breath
and a tearing cry out
and in and out and on and on

birds cry in the distance,
happy that the storm has passed
that glancing ray
touches my open eyes
i blink
awake, aware
finally
alive again

hold a rose up to your ear and what do you hear?
butterfly kisses and nose to nose brushes
mirror bright smiles and hesitant touches

captured in mirror black eyes
a little picture of me
with eyes trapped inside
the smoldering embers of a fire
long stemmed curve of heated glass
sparks mark out the breaking bones
of the vanishing coals

hold a rose up to a tear and what do you hear?
butterfly kisses and pinky promises
sparkles and laughing overwhelms us

"you heard my shit on the radio"
playing in the background "heeeeelllooo"
strong hands with a gentle walk
silky after-image sliding
like a tracer flare fading
electric wavefront of excited nerves
fading to ground following curves

hold a rose up to your ear and what do you hear?
butterfly kisses and nose to nose brushes
mirror bright smiles and hesitant touches

the fundamental nature of programming by Locke in 1690

The acts of the mind, wherein it exerts its power over simple ideas, are chiefly these three: 1. Combining several simple ideas into one compound one, and thus all complex ideas are made. 2. The second is bringing two ideas, whether simple or complex, together, and setting them by one another so as to take a view of them at once, without uniting them into one, by which it gets all its ideas of relations. 3. The third is separating them from all other ideas that accompany them in their real existence: this is called abstraction, and thus all its general ideas are made.

Created by the Interactive Johari Window on 15.2.2006, using data from 4 respondents.
You can make your own Johari Window, or view messyah's full data.

It says "known only to others", but I think it more likely its "known only to wimmens", considering that all three women respondents marked the same characteristics and the long guy didn't. It also appears that mostly women respond to this kind of survey [you know, from my statistically valid sample.]

i live vicariously through sex and the city.

i am thoughts that think me
stuff that owns me
images in other people's eyes
i am light that sees me
little flashes of conscious
scattered across the long dark night
i am a whisper on the wind
a dent in a bed
a pillow with a gentle curve
timeworn lines in a frayed out comforter
comfort in a frayed out blanket
that tatters, decays,
and drifts away
i am dust that drifts across the world
excited electrons that remember
being part of something grand
waves rippling and fading
thoughts that think me
light that sees me
dust
i am ashes waiting to be born

words flung at you
little shards of me
across my life they're scattered
how many really mattered?
was there one that i forgot
someone was glad they bought?

like some digital corporate hobo
i'm on a train headed for nowhere home
with a laptop and a credit card
and no one who cares
where i go or why
trains flash by in moments
just long enough to think
i wonder if i'm on the wrong train
going the wrong place
time will tell
messyah: (Default)
through hours and days this train is taking me
far off along the horizon and out of my life
into the echo of waiting
that has defined me so many times before
but drawn out, time to think, time to wonder
take a pause and ponder
now
when it matters

I'm running through the episodes in season 2 of Six Feet Under. In light of this, I want to start my very own m&m - morbid meme. What songs would you play at my funeral? Give me at least a couple and put the same question in *your* journal.

i'm in awe. last year, when DARPA ran the autonomous vehicle race, one car went 7.5 miles, and most cratered out in the first mile. This year, something like a quarter of the participants FINISHED THE RACE. That's one year's difference!

24 is awesome, i'm about a third through with it, and it kicks ass.

being stuck in philly sucks, i haven't seen anybody in weeks! :((

the sky is as particularly a lovely shade of blue as possible given that I'm stuck in Philly and the future is blindingly uncertain.

i'm afraid i'm going to have to have ear surgery. :((

work is going fairly well for a project that I have no faith in, but at least i'm having fun.

work has a foosball table, i've been playing every day and practicing new shots in the evening. it's a fascinating game, the more I play the more depth I find in it. it amazes me how one table at a startup can lead to a lifelong hobby, and it also amazes me how much depth there is in a game that most people think is about spinning the handles randomly and drinking beer. Just as an example, the table is carefully designed so that from the goalie of one team, there is *always* a hole in the defending 4 rows of players that is almost exactly 2mm larger than the ball is.

Is it me, or is the sky a particularly lovely shade of blue this morning?

double negative proof positive
dabble in a double entendre with the one that might have mattered
if she wasn't
not for me

lingering on my tongue
like the last hint of the taste
of a raindrop on my lips
she went to another, a prior life
but before
ah
before
well, a lovely memory, but not for me

maybe i am to be alone
with my dreams to keep me warm at night
my pillow to hold me tight
no shadow in the window
will awake my sight
maybe the whole world is
not for me
and i'll just fade into the woodwork
of a richly paneled study all my own
forever bound up in books
wreathed in the drifting smoke
with a faint hint of aging brandy
and eternity to contemplate alone
what eternity means to me
