Dec. 25th, 2004 06:07 amGot a haircut and a shave in preparation for going to Minneapolis 12/31 to 1/8 for a massive business planning meeting.
Having someone hold a straightrazor at your throat is an interesting experience if it's never happened before.
I also have no idea why anybody would *ever* use a single blade razor - a professional with a double handful of lather and preshave couldn't even get close to as close a shave as I get *dry* shaving with my quattro 4 bladed razor.
So far this week, I've solved the biggest immediately solvable productivity problem on the project, and in addition, convinced the management to invest around $70k in super development machines because of the immense size of the code base. For the geeks amongst you, here are the critical specs for the machines after having been signed off by the senior person responsible:
2 2.6Ghz Xeon processors hyperthreading capable with 1M onboard cache.
4G DDR2 RAM
2 RAID0 striped 36G 15000rpm drives
20" widescreen TFT flat panel monitor
Total of $4000/machine, for 17 machines. I'm going to be the biggest developer hero in the office when they arrive :)
Merry Fing Xmas.
